US Airlines brace themselves for Hurricane Irma

  • Amidst criticism of unusual fare hiking by airlines in the wake of deadly episodes, now the US Airlines have braced themselves and its passengers in the light of Hurricane Irma. Irma is the strongest Atlantic hurricane ever recorded. The US Airlines have  adjusted flight schedules, made cancellations and assured passengers of no sudden fare hike. The airlines have canceled flights in the likely affected areas and put in place travel waivers for customers to reschedule plans. Fare caps on flights out of Florida were announced by American Airlines, Delta Airlines and Jet Blue - $399 on Delta and $99 on Jet Blue and American Airline. Accusations of unfair pricing techniques have been investigated in the past. Dong McGrow, a Jet Blue spokesperson said, “We want those trying to leave ahead of the hurricane to focus on their safe evacuation rather than worry about the cost of flights.”
