US administration imposes another set of sanctions

  • The US has imposed additional sanctions on some countries in the continent of South America, including Venezuela and Nicaragua. New restrictions relating to non- family visa and travel have also been imposed on Cuba. Additionally, US is preparing to legally enforce an age-old provision 'Title III' that allows US citizens and businesses to demand compensation in US courts for their property occupied or seized in Cuba. Some international US allies, such as European countries and Canada are likely to oppose the sanctions, as the said sanctions could impact the profitability of their business investments in these countries.
