US accuses Iran for Carrying out Dual Drone Attacks in Saudi Arabia

  • The US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has dismissed the claims of the Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen that they have carried out the drone attacks on two Saudi Arabian facilities of Aramaco (a state owned company) at Abqaiq and Khurais. Pompeo accused Iran for the attacks. In a tweet, the US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo called the attack an unprecedented one on the energy supply of the world and went on to say that there is absolutely “no evidence” that the drones were sent by Yemen’s Houthi rebels. The energy minister of Saudi Arabia said that the attack reduced the production of crude oil by 5.7 million barrels per day, which is equal to half of the total output of the country. This significant drop in oil production has also reportedly affected the world oil prices. On Sunday, after opening the main Saudi stock exchange dropped by 3% after opening. However, it recovered afterwards.
