US: 8 dead due to bone-chilling cold

  • At least 8 people have been killed in several states of the US because of the arctic weather. Deadly cold snap named as Polar Vertex has threatened the US Midwest region. Several places are being shut because of extremely cold conditions. Temperature has fallen to -30C (-22F) in Chicago. This temperature is colder than certain parts of Antarctica. More than 1500 flights have been canceled and train services have been suspended in Chicago and other parts of US. The residents are asked to stay in homes because of the freezing weather.
