The United States has banned all American airlines from flying over Syrian airspace, according to media reports. In a statement, the Federal Aviation Administration said militants in Syria possessed several types of anti-aircraft weapons with the “capability to threaten civilian aircraft.”
Meanwhile, a report by a global arms research group has warned that armed groups in Syria had hundreds of anti-aircraft missiles, which could fall into the hands of extremists and used to target commercial flights.
