Underage sex charges and abuse of office: Milan court acquits Berlusconi
July 19 , 2014
A court in Milan has cleared Italy's former prime minister Silvio Berlusconi of paying for underage sex and abusing his office for covering it up.
The 77-year-old, who had filed an appeal against the conviction, said he was “deeply moved” by the verdict. He said those close to him knew how he had “suffered for an accusation that was unfair and ignominious”.
However, this ruling does not affect his sentence in a tax fraud conviction that he is currently serving.
