UN slams expulsion of its senior official from South Sudan
June 2 , 2015
The UN has slammed South Sudan’s decision to expel Toby Lanzer, the United Nations humanitarian coordinator in the conflict-hit country.
Lanzer was not given any explanation before being asked to leave. In a statement, UN secretary-general Ban Ki-moon urged South Sudan’s government to “reverse its decision immediately.”
Lanzer, a British citizen, has played a key role in “addressing the increasing humanitarian needs” of the South Sudanese people, the statement said.
