UN slams attacks on African Peacemakers in Somalia

United Nations Secretary- General Ban Ki-Moon condemned the recent attack by Al-Shabaab on Ethiopian Troops at an African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM). At least 60 soldiers were killed in the attack. He called on the ‘Horn of the Africa’ country not to yield to Al-Shabaab and extremism. The UN Chief expressed his condolences to the grieved families. He mentioned UN support while paying tribute to the AMISOM as well as the Somali National Army forces for their brave response to restore stability in Somalia. Ban Ki-Moon requested the Somalian people and the Government to remain resolute in fighting against Al- Shabaab & extremism and reiterated the unwavering UN support to build a peaceful & stable Somalia.
