UN Report shows progress on AIDS

According to the annual UN report on HIV/AIDS, about 35.3M people are infected with the same. The list of numbers contained in the report sound encouraging. For instance, in comparison to 2005, when 2.3 million people died due to AIDS, the number dropped to 1.6 million in 2012.
Moreover, the biggest drop in the infections has been seen in the Caribbean- 49 percent. The figure in sub-Saharan Africa is 34 percent.
Although, a UN official mentioned that the epidemic could be kaput by 2030, issues such as the decrease in condom use and a rise in the number of sexual partners in Africa have been pointed at.
