UN Report finds DPRK Carrying on Nuclear and Missile Programs, US-North Korea Discord Surface in ASEAN Meet

  • A recent report commissioned by the UN Security Council has said that North Korea is still carrying on its nuclear and missile programs. The concerned confidential report, prepared by a panel of independent experts, was submitted on Friday. It also mentioned that after the US and European sanctions on DPRK, Pyongyang has massively increased illegal ship-to-ship transfers of oil products and at the same time trying to sell weapons in the market abroad. The report comes just a week after US officials reportedly said that spy satellites have found continued activity in one of the sites that produced ballistic missiles. On Saturday, discord between the US and DPRK officials surfaced at the ASEAN Regional Forum. While Washington pressed for maintaining sanctions on North Korea, the latter questioned intentions of the US.
