UN extends South Sudan Mission till Aug 12

  • U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, Samantha Power, told United Nations Security Council (UNSC) that significant violence have been reported from South Sudan’s Equatorias and it needs special surveillance so that the situation doesn’t spiral out of control again.  Following the “disturbing report” by the US, UNSC unanimously extended the stay of peacekeeping mission in South Sudan till August 12, 2016. China's foreign minister Wang Yi met Sudanese minister Deng Alor Kuol and asked him to quickly identify and punish those who killed two Chinese peacekeepers in Juba.
