Ukrainian President says peace deal in 'great danger' as fighting continues
February 14 , 2015
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has warned that the ceasefire deal to end the conflict in the eastern part of the country was in “great danger” due to heavy fighting.
The ceasefire is due to come to effect on Saturday night.
Poroshenko alleged Russia had stepped up its offensive despite the peace deal reached in Minsk.
Russia denies its forces are involved in the fighting in Ukraine.
Ukraine’s defense ministry said pro-Russia rebels were trying to seize Debaltseve and Mariupol towns before the ceasefire kicks in.
