Ukrainian President sacks Governor Ihor Kolomoisky following oil firm row
March 25 , 2015
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has accepted the resignation of Ihor Kolomoisky, an influential governor in the east, who is credited with halting the advance of rebels in that area.
Kolomoisky, the governor of Dnipropetrovsk and one of the richest men in Ukraine, met the president after a row over an oil firm. Armed men with alleged links to Kolomoisky had occupied offices of an oil company, triggering the tension.
Valentyn Reznichenko has been named as the acting governor of Dnipropetrovsk.
