Ukraine government forces capture two more towns

  • Ukrainian government forces have recaptured two cities from rebel fighters. Druzhkivka and Artemivsk are now under the control of government forces, officials claimed.

Earlier, government forces had recaptured Sloviansk, a major rebel stronghold.

Ukraine’s president Petro Poroshenko had described the capture of Sloviansk as a “turning point” in the conflict. However, he warned against any premature celebrations as important areas remained under rebel control.

According to reports, pro-Russian fighters may be regrouping in Donetsk.
