Ukraine conflict: 30 killed in Mariupol in rocket attack
January 25 , 2015
Multiple rocket assaults on Mariupol city in eastern Ukraine on Saturday, January 24 have killed at least 30 people as the fighting in the region enters a deadly phase, according to media reports.
Kiev blamed the attacks on pro-Russia separatists, but the rebels said government forces were responsible.
The main leader of the rebels earlier claimed that his forces had started an offensive against Mariupol, but later appeared to back down from his claim.
According to the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe, the rockets had come from separatist-held areas.
