UK Foreign Secretary lifts ban on UK Embassies flying Rainbow Flag

  • UK Foreign Secretary lifts ban on UK Embassies flying Rainbow Flag

Boris Johnson, UK’s foreign secretary, has done away with the ban on UK embassies as well as high commissions on flying the rainbow flag used during hosting gay pride events. Johnson overturned his predecessor Philip Hammond’s decision that allowed UK’s Foreign Office buildings to fly only Union flag and flags of the nations/overseas territories of the UK. A Foreign Office spokesperson said that the foreign offices can now fly Rainbow flags on May 17 (International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia) and at the same time on local pride celebrations.
