UK food expert calls for boycott of supermarket chicken
November 28 , 2014
A food expert in the UK has said the “scandalous” contamination levels in supermarket chicken merited its boycott, according to media reports.
Tests on fresh retail chicken have revealed that eight in 10 had traces of a food poisoning bug called campylobacter.
Tim Lang, who has been an adviser on health and environment to British governments in the past, said the levels of contamination were shocking.
The food watchdog has warned that no supermarket was meeting nationally set targets in this regard.
