An American man, who was held prisoner in the United Arab Emirates over a parody video that he posted online, has finally been freed after nine months.
The 29-year-old Shezanne Cassim was held in a prison at Abu Dhabi and is soon to arrive in Minneapolis. He was arrested in connection with the video, which made fun of the youth who made themselves look like "gangstas" in Dubai.
The National noted that Cassim and others were accused of harming the nation's reputation abroad. They were convicted in December and sentenced to serve one year in prison to be deported later on.
According to the US State Department, he was released early due to good behavior.
