U.S. embassies will close on Sunday due to security threat
August 3 , 2013
U.S. embassies will close in the Middle East and elsewhere on Sunday in response to a "specific threat" against a U.S. embassy or consulate. A State Department spokeswoman said their analysis could lead to the closings to stretch on for days. According to security officials, the threat appears to be regarding Ramadan but some have said that it concerns an al-Qaeda affiliate.
A bunch of embassies don't generally close all at once and Sunday is supposed to be a normal working day for those in the Middle East. The number of embassies that will be closed in the Middle East and parts of Asia vary according to sources but those in Europe and Latin America would be closed on Sunday as it is.
