Two US free climbers reach peak of El Capitan
January 15 , 2015
Two American free climbers have reached the 3,000-feet high summit of the El Capitan rock after more than two grueling weeks, according to media reports.
Tommy Caldwell, 36, and Kevin Jorgeson, 30, are the only climbers to have done so without any aids. They only had ropes and harnesses to protect themselves from dangerous falls during the historic feat.
The duo began their climb of the rock in Yosemite National Park on December 27. They would sleep in tents that were suspended from the face of the mountain.
