Two killed in anti-terror raid in Belgium

  • Two suspected jihadists were killed in an anti-terror operation in Belgium as the country continues to remain on high alert.

The police shot and killed the duo in the eastern Verviers town on Thursday, January 15, after they fired on officers.

According to officials, the suspects had returned from Syria and were planning imminent attacks on the police. A third suspect was wounded and has been detained.

Prosecutor Eric Van Der Sypt said the suspected Islamist gunmen used “military weaponry and handguns” to fire on the police, before they were shot.
