Two guards killed outside Sudan's presidential palace

  • Two security guards were killed by a knife-wielding man outside the presidential palace in Sudan’s capital Khartoum, media reports said.

The man was later shot and killed by other guards. Officials said he did not respond to warnings and appeared to be “mentally unstable”.

President Omar al-Bashir was not inside during the incident.

Bashir has been indicted by the International Criminal Court for genocide in Darfur, charges which the president rejects.
