Two balloonists break world distance record, cross Pacific Ocean
January 30 , 2015
An American and a Russian pilot have broken the world record for helium balloon flight by crossing the Pacific Ocean.
Troy Bradley from the US and Russia’s Leonid Tiukhtyaev surpassed the distance record, and now aim to beat the duration record as well.
The duo started their flight in the hi-tech balloon called ‘Two Eagles’ on January 25. They are due to land in North America, possibly Mexico, on Saturday (31 January).
The balloon has instruments fitted on to it to track their route and gather data.
