Turkey: Polls to determine if country will turn into presidential republic
June 7 , 2015
Voters in Turkey are casting their ballots in an election that will determine whether the country will become a presidential republic.
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s ruling party is seeking a majority that is big enough to change the constitution.
A lot will depend on the performance of the HDP. If the pro-Kurdish party crosses the 10% mark and enters parliament, Erdogan’s hopes may be dashed.
Meanwhile, blasts during an election rally have killed four people in Diyarbakir.
