Turkey bombs Kurdish PKK rebel targets near Iraqi border

  • Turkey’s jets have carried out air raids on PKK Kurdish rebel positions in Hakkari province close to the Iraqi border, media reports said.

    The bombing, carried out by F-16 and F-4 planes, were the first major air raid on the rebel group since it declared a truce in March 2013. According to one media report, “heavy casualties” were reported in Daglica village in the south-east.

    Clashes have also been reported between PKK rebels and Turkish forces in Tunceli.
