Tunisia headed towards unemployment crisis as nationwide curfew imposed
January 23 , 2016
Massive nationwide protests in Tunisia over unemployment led to the government imposing curfew in response to the growing unrest, coinciding with the Arab Spring anniversary. Reports of loot at stores, warehouses and possible attempts to sabotage a bank meant immediate action was required to curb the situation. Fear of further damage to public property and institutions led to imposition of curfew between 8 PM-5 AM hours on Friday. Its unemployment stands at 30% among the youth, way above the national average of 15%. The govt. on its part has assured remedial action to tackle this crisis in the days ahead.
