Trump Administration Likely to Stop US Refugee Family Reunification Program
October 21 , 2017
Reports say sources with the direct knowledge of the US President Donald Trump administration’s plan to pause an ongoing refugee settlement program say that a plan is being drafted for expanding the ambit of SAO (Security Advisory Opinions). If the draft plan is implemented then the family members of refugees (who are already settled in the USA) from the countries that are considered as high-risk ones by the US government will have to undergo intensive security checks by more than one federal agency. With the new plan, reports say the intensive security checks will be applicable for women too (which are now applicable for men only). However, spokespersons of both White House and Department of Homeland Security have denied knowledge of any such plan or proposal.
