Trump Administration faces isolation, EU to deal directly with business leaders and US state governors

  • Several members of the U.S. Conference of Mayors have announced their decision to oppose President Trump and extend their support to the climate deal. EU will be reaching out to them and other CEOs for building consensus and support for the climate change initiative.

As per reports, a determined EU has decided to side step the Trump administration and deal directly with U.S. State governors and top business leaders who have extended support to the Paris Agreement.

Within 24 hours of the U.S. President announcing his government’s exit from the Paris Agreement, Brussels was quick to clarify that re-negotiation of the agreement was out of question.

President of the European Council, Donald Tusk, said the U.S. decision was a mistake and that EU would work with other like-minded nations. China and EU have already committed to raising $100 billion by 2020 to help weaker nations reduce carbon emissions.
