Tropical storm Erika hits Caribbean, 20 killed in Dominica

  • A tropical storm has battered the Caribbean, killing at least 20 people on Dominica island, reports say.

    Dozens of people are still unaccounted for after Tropical Storm Erika struck the eastern Caribbean, causing mudslides and floods.

    Dominica's Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit said the storm had destroyed hundreds of homes, roads and bridges.  

    Meanwhile, Florida, US, has declared a state of emergency as Erika is expected to make landfall there on Sunday.

    In Puerto Rico, more than 200,000 people have been left without power.
