Tripoli airport targeted in air strikes

  • A jet of the Libyan air force jet conducted air strikes on Tripoli’s Maitiga air base, which is the capital's last running airport, according to media reports.

An area close to the runway was hit, but not damaged, by the strikes. However, a few civilian homes were damaged.

The militias controlling Tripoli described the strikes as a “provocative” step carried out by forces with foreign backing.

Flights at Maitiga had to be redirected initially, but they later resumed, media reports said.
