Trapped miners in South Africa refuse to come out
February 17 , 2014
About a dozen miners have come up from a mine in South Africa after getting trapped but the rest refuse to be freed since they fear being arrested for mining illegally.
Those saved have been taken into police custody and rescuers have given up on trying to help the rest for now. Initial false reports suggested that 200 miners were trapped and sources continue to dispute how the collapse occurred.
Illegal gold mining is not uncommon in South Africa.
