TransAsia flight crashes into Taiwan river; at least 12 killed

At least 12 people were killed when a TransAsia Airways flight with 48 people on board crashed into a river near the Taiwanese capital, Taipei on Wednesday morning.
The aircraft had taken off from Taiwan’s Taipei Songshan Airport and was flying to Kinmen Islands near the city of Xiamen in China. Local reports claimed that the flight controllers lost contact with the flight at 10:55 local time (02:55 GMT).
A video footage showed how the plane hit a cab and then toppled over a bridge before plunging into the Keelung River.
According to Taipei officials, 16 people have sustained injuries and several others remain trapped inside the plane as rescuers get into act.
