Tragic Oil Tanker Explosion Kills Over 120 in Pakistan's Bahawalpur City

Official reports say that over 120 people are killed and around 130 injured in Eastern Pakistan when an oil tanker truck exploded in Bahawalpur city. A police official, Mohammad Akhtar, told media that the accident took place when the track fell off the road. The explosion occurred at a time when many villagers gathered around the vehicle for collecting oil in their containers. Many people were covered in oil and burned on the spot. Victoria Hospital in Bahawalpur told media that they are currently treating 40 people with 70 per cent burns and 15 are in critical condition. Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has expressed deep grief. Chief Minister of Punjab (Pakistan) Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, in a statement, said that the tragic incident will be inquired.
