Town in Germany to strip Hitler's honorary citizenship
September 12 , 2013
A German town plans on taking necessary steps to strip Adolf Hitler off his honorary citizenship title. The town assembly of Goslar has already set the procedure in motion, according to which the title would be formally removed by next month.
Some officials argued saying the title had expired with Hitler committing suicide before the end of World War II. On the other hand, some have said it's necessary to take this symbolic step even though some people think of it as being a pointless move to correct a mistake made in history.
Reports suggest that Hitler had about 4,000 honorary citizenships during his lifetime. His bodyguard who was the last surviving person to have witnessed his suicide died at the age of 96 only a few days ago.
