TikTok to Launch Legal Action to Challenge US President's Order on Banning the App

  • Chinese video application TikTok is set to launch legal action to challenge the United States President Donald Trump’s order on banning the app in the US. The platform has about 80 million active US users. TikTok officials said that it has tried to engage with Trump’s administration for nearly a year but had to encounter a lack of due process and that Trump’s administration pays “no attention to facts.” The spokesperson of TikTok also said that “to ensure that the law is not discarded and that our company and users are treated fairly, we have no choice but to challenge the executive order through the judicial system.” On Friday, a separate lawsuit was filed against the President’s similar ban on the social media app WeChat, which is owned by a Chinese company.
