Tianjin blasts: Chinese authorities order evacuation from site

  • Authorities in China have ordered the evacuation of people living within a 3 km radius of the blast site at Tianjin following fears of chemical contamination.

The death toll from the deadly blasts has risen to 112, with over 720 people hospitalized.

Sodium cyanide, a highly toxic chemical, was found near the blast site, and a change in wind direction prompted the evacuation, reports say.

Of those injured, 33 are said to be in a serious condition and 25 are critical.
