Three killed, 10 injured in Brazil offshore rig blast
February 12 , 2015
At least three workers have been killed and ten injured in a blast on an offshore rig run by Brazilian oil giant Petrobras.
The state-run company said 74 workers were on the oil and gas platform at the time of the explosion; six remain missing. The subsequent blaze was contained and the platform stabilized, the country’s oil industry regulator said.
The rig is located near the Espirito Santo state coast.
The incident comes at a time when Petrobras is mired in a multi-billion dollar corruption scandal.
