Thousands of new Ebola cases expected in Liberia in coming weeks

  • Several thousand new cases of Ebola are expected in Liberia in the next three weeks, the World Health Organization (WHO) has warned.

The toll of new cases of the deadly disease is “increasing exponentially,” according to a WHO statement. Motorcycles and cabs were among the sources of virus transmission in the west African nation, the UN agency said.

Ebola has already claimed 1,089 lives in Liberia. Across west Africa, the death toll is more than 2,000.
