The US Department of Justice Charges 12 Russian Officials for Meddling with 2016 US Election
July 14 , 2018
12 Russian intelligence officers have been charged by the US Department of Justice on Friday with charges of hacking Democratic officials during US Presidential election 2016. This is the first time the US has officially charged Russian government directly for meddling with US Presidential election during 2016. Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein said the 12 accused sent spear-phishing emails as well as malicious software techniques for hacking. The hackers reportedly hacked a state election board website and stole information of half a million voters. However, Russian foreign ministry refuted the US claims by calling them “conspiracy schemes” and “old duck”.
