Tanzania arrests man over Nairobi blast

  • A man suspected of involvement in a blast at a shopping center in the Kenyan capital Nairobi last month has been arrested in neighboring Tanzania.

Officials say Emrah Erdogan, 24, is a German national of Turkish origin.

He is believed to have crossed into Kenya in May from Somalia, where he had been fighting with the Islamist al-Shabab militia.

More than 30 people were injured in the blast.

The militant al-Shabab group has repeatedly threatened to plot revenge attacks after Kenya sent troops into Somalia last year as part of the African Union’s effort to back the country’s interim government.
