Taiwan polls: ruling party's China policy to be tested
November 29 , 2014
Taiwanese voters head to elections in the island's biggest local poll that is widely being seen as a referendum on the ruling Kuomintang (KMT) party’s China policy.
Nearly 20,000 candidates are in the race for over 11,000 posts.
KMT’s critics have accused it of being too close to Taiwan’s powerful neighboring country. The party’s supporters, however, say that maintaining good relations with China is in Taiwan’s interests.
Over 18 million voters have registered to cast their ballot.
