Syrian Jihadists Shot Down Russian Warplane, Over 30 Militants Killed by Russia in Retaliatory Attack

  • Islamic Syrian rebels fighting Syrian President Bashar al-Assad shot down a Russian warplane Su-25 on Saturday afternoon and reportedly killed the pilot when trying to fight Islamist militants, who were taking him captive. Preliminary information suggests the al-Qaida’s Syrian linked Islamic rebels used portable ground-to-air missile to bring down the Russian warplane. The Syrian opposition rebels also shared a video footage showing the flamed wreckage of the Sukhoi-25 warplane along with the bloodied body of a man, lying beside a rock. Reports say Russia carried out retaliatory attack on the Syrian rebels, killing over 30 terrorists in Idlib’s northwest province, where the jihadist Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) is active.
