Syria: Setback for government forces as rebels seize key army base
June 10 , 2015
Rebel fighters in Syria have captured a major military base, delivering another blow to Bashar al-Assad’s forces, reports say.
A rebel alliance called Southern Front, which is backed by the west, led the attack on the Brigade 52 military base in the southern province of Daraa, according to opposition activists.
This is the largest Syrian army base in the province, and houses a tank and artillery battalion along with an infantry unit.
