Syria intentionally demolishes neighborhoods
January 31 , 2014
Military forces in Syria are using bulldozers and explosions to demolish entire neighborhoods in Hama and Damascus.
Reports suggest that seven areas have been affected in the move, which sends no warnings to the residents of the region so they can evacuate beforehand.
According to the Syrian government, the demolitions are a move to get rid of the buildings that have been constructed illegally. However, Human Rights Watch mentioned that areas that have been supportive of the government remain unaggected.
"Wiping entire neighborhoods off the map is not a legitimate tactic of war," a researcher said.
