Surgery scheduled for Argentina's president
October 9 , 2013
Argentina President Christina Fernandez was diagnosed with hematoma on Saturday and doctors have set a surgery to drain it tomorrow.
Fernandez had been on a month long bed rest due to subdural hematoma but the cause of her frequent headaches wasn't known until recently.
Vice president Amado Boudou vowed to carry on while Fernandez gets rest. "Be strong Christina! We're all going forward together," he said.
It's not clear as to whether or not Fernandez will resume her duties while she recovers. Vice president Boudou is unpopular and is also facing an investigation regarding corruption.
Former president Nestor Kirchner and Fernandez's husband died of a heart attack only three years ago.
