Study shows weight loss surgery reduces risk of type 2 diabetes
November 3 , 2014
A new British study says that surgery of weight loss greatly reduces the chances of developing type 2 diabetes, media reports said.
Doctors tracked around 5,000 people to examine the results of the operation. The results show type 2 diabetes reduced by 80% in people who had undergone the surgery.
The results appear in the Lancet Diabetes and Endocrinology journal.
The NHS may offer the surgery to thousands of people to stave off type 2 diabetes.
