Strong Typhoon in Southern Ryuku Islands of Japan

  • As per recent news updates, Lekima has now build up into a strengthened typhoon. News agencies state that on Thursday, August 8, 2019 the typhoon went across the Southern Ryuku islands of Japan and later it headed towards China. Moreover, a typhoon is said to have brought powerful winds of around 220 kph (134 mph). This storm is considered very strong and is said to be equivalent of category 4 hurricane. Additionally, the worst condition was felt at Southern Ryukyu Islands of Japan, which is the chain of islands including Okinawa, where around 1.4 million people are said to reside. The typhoon is now bidding goodbye to the group of islands, and has recently witnessed rains over 200 millimeters. But now the winds have gusted as high as 104 mph.
