Straight dad demands benefits given to gays

A man in Canada has filed a complaint and asked to receive parental-leave benefits that are available to same-sex parents. The National Post reports that Alexander Angus wasn't eligible to receive these benefits due to his gender and the fact that he was heterosexual.
"Because I am male, I do not qualify for these benefits, although if I were to marry another male I would? If this is correct it seems to be a blatant show of inequality," he said.
The Province reports that the city wanted to dismiss his complaint since their collective agreement clearly includes these benefits for all parents irrespective of their sexual orientation or other circumstances related to the child's birth. However, a mediation was recommended since the man wasn't eligible for benefits at the time.
