Stem cell therapy shows positive results in improving sight

Stem cell therapy has been able to improve the sight of patients suffering from an eye disease, without any prominent side-effects, researchers say.
There were concerns earlier that the body’s immune system would reject the cells or the cells could develop into tumors — but a three-year follow-up of patients suffering from macular degeneration revealed that the treatment appears to be safe, according to media reports .
Diseases caused by macular degeneration are among the major causes of blindness in the west.
