Stem cell research raises hopes of curing Type 1 diabetes

Researchers believe that they may have achieved a breakthrough in finding a cure for type 1 diabetes, reports say.
Experts have been able to create adequate quantities of human beta cells that produce insulin that are very similar to beta cells that function normally. This was done by using human embryonic stem cells.
Researchers from Harvard University hope to start human transplantation trials in the next few years. Trials are currently being conducted on animals.
